"700" Art Journal Page

I have a counter on my phone that counts down the days until I get to be a "Stay at Home Artist".  Ask me any time and I can tell you how many days remain, without looking.  Am I excited?  You bet I am!  A couple weeks ago I hit the 700 days mark and thought it was worthy of an Art Journal page.  I also wanted to practice a background technique that I had recently read about so I thought this would be a good place to try it out.  The background was perfect for journaling, I knew I wanted to do a bunch of that, I had a lot to say, but most of it I didn't want to share so I thought it would be fun to conceal a big portion of it with butterflies (a symbol for change).  I'm really happy with how this turned out.

Oregon Coast art journal page

Just finished my second art journal page in my first ever at journal. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The book itself is an encyclopedia that I altered. I have the whole set and hope to some day have an entire set of art journals.

I started by gessoing my page then put down a piece of wallpaper. I brushed some Vaseline on the wallpaper then painted on a layer of white paint. I let this dry real good and wiped away the paint that covered the Vaseline. I used my finger to smear some paint around and a paper towel roll to stamp some circles and India ink to trace those circles. When everything was dry I glued down my magazine clippings and used my finger to smear some gesso around the clippings. I used a paint pen to decorate my page and edge it and a Pitt pen for my journaling. It was a lot of fun.

Sailing New Seas by Dancing Princess Designs

I've really been enjoying playing with the girls over at Scrap Takeout.  Their designers have come up with some things that are really cute.  Like this new kit by by Dancing Princess Designs called Sailing New Seas.  As soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to make.  It came together with such ease (sometimes that makes me wonder if what I made was any good LOL).  But I'm happy with how it turned out and that's all that really matters, right?

Right Now Prompt October 2012

Everyone knows Ali Edwards, right?  Always inspiring.  Well, I recently stumbled onto a blog post that inspired me to act.  Ali prompts you to create a list of things about you.  You can read all about it HERE.  I decided I would make a journal page with my list.  I used Art Styling Bundle by Sweet Digi Scraps.

Americana Collab by Paula Kesselring and Studio 68

I always get so excited when Paula Kesslering comes out with something new to work with.  Why?  Because it's always something fun!  Like her newest release, a collab with Studio 68- Americana, I just LOVE it.  And it came at the perfect time, I'd been thinking a lot about our country's health care reform that is taking shape and this kit gave me the perfect excuse to journal about it.

Red, White and Blue by Finecrafted Designs

I was so excited when I saw this kit by Finecrafted Designs!  I'm a very patriotic person, devoted to my country and finally, took this opportunity to express it in an art journal page!  I really like how this page turned out, I'm very proud of it.
