I really enjoy the blocked look of my pages, especially with all the beautiful papers made by Brine Designs. It's too hard to pick just one or two, but this way I can use them all (and even repeat my favorites). This is my first page using the April Collection. I love the colors WOW!!!
Jen Yurko was my designer partner at Ginger Scraps for April. I adore Jen. She's extremely talented. She has a very unique style that you just won't find any where else and her prices have always been very fair. I hope you'll take a moment to check out her store, ya know she's now exclusive to Ginger Scraps!!
I love templates, what can I say? I'm a sucker for them. But what's more? I've recently realized the joy I get from manipulating templates to make them just the way I want them. I've been doing this for a while, but only recently realized how much freedom there really is in a template. Like this template by Camomile Designs... I love the layout, but I wanted my pictures to be bigger, to take up more of the page, to really be the focus. So I just made everything a little bigger and got exactly what I wanted and I LOVE it!
I'm so excited to tell you that Nathalie, of eNKay Designs has a brand new kit out. She's been a bit busy with personal stuff, so it's been a while, but when she puts out a new kit, it's worth the wait. This kit was one that I didn't have a picture for because I don't have kids and it's been a hundred years since I've been in school. But I loved the kit at first site and knew I was going to use it, I would just have to stretch my imagination. So I did. This kit inspired me to get a fun picture of Morpheus that otherwise would not have happened.
I always have so much fun playing with Evelyn's kits (Finecrafted Designs). I never lack for inspiration when her kits come knocking on my door : ) Bee Yourself is a fun little kit with so many great bits and pieces related to bees and honey and I thought it was perfect for a play on words. I used this kit to make my page for the Art Journal Caravan, Itinerary #15, it worked great for the quote of the week.
For this week's page I went back to a February template and used the papers from March to make my page. I LOVE the simple design of this template and will probably use it many more times. I like the big picture and the shots of color with all the white space. Perfect for me : )
You may remember, last week I mentioned my new Creative Team, Bits 2 Kits. I was assigned to do 2 layouts for Binty Designs and posted my first one at that time. I'm now back to post my second layout and I must say, I've really enjoyed working with Binty's designs, she's a very talented designer and I love her bright colors it's really given my pages a different feel.
My recipe book is out of control! I can never find what I'm looking for, it's beyond frustrating! It's so bad, even my husband complains about it and he doesn't even use my recipes! So, I finally decided that it's time to start taking control. I'm only going to scrap my favorite recipes though. I recently found this delicious recipe for meatloaf with oats. We had it a couple times and decided it would be one for the book!
That's right, I've joined another new Creative Team!! I finally feel that my creative plate is full, no more searching. I'm excited to be a part of Camomile Designs Creative Team!!! She has bright cheerful kits and her templates are also in line with my new style that focuses more on photos.
I've recently discovered a fun new store called Bits 2 Kits and was accepted to their Creative Team. It's a unique little store with lots of fun scrapbooking supplies just waiting to be taken home. Every 2 weeks I'm assigned a new designer to work with, which is a lot of fun, because many of the designers there are new to me. For the first 2 weeks of April I'm assigned to Binty Designs.
This week I decided not to use a template for my page. I had an idea in my head that I wanted to use and didn't see how I could "alter" any of the available templates to make what was in my head. So I used the papers, ribbons and flowers that went with the March theme and I think it turned out pretty nice.
Craft-tastrophic Designs was my Designer Partner at GingerScraps for March. She has some really fun stuff in her store, I hope you'll check it out. I chose to work with a collaboration kit she did with Joyful Heart Designs called Feelin' Groovy. I absolutely love this kit! It's fun and funky and as my husband would say "It's Carolyn-esque" LOL. I decided that I would make a page for my quote book using this kit, it was perfect for the quote I was working with in the Art Journal Caravan.
I'm so very excited to have joined a new Creative Team!!! The designer's name is Angelle Designs and she is very very talented. I was first drawn to her because of her templates with the big photo holes, which is what I've been shifting my style to more and more. Then I realized that her kits are pretty special too. I love the new Movie Night Bundle, it's available over at Zig Sag Scraps and currently on sale for $8. Grab it quick.
Each month the designers over at GingerScraps put out a collection of mini kits to match a predetermined theme and color pallet. April's collection is called "Happy Hopscotch" and it's adorable!! You can see the full collection HERE. Each mini kit is $2 or less. What a deal!!
